SharePoint Online solution
WPH consists of Wessex Water, Bristol Water, Welsh Water, Sembcorp Bournemouth Water and Wales & West Utility. As well as requiring remote access, its member organisations also needed document management and retention functionality, increased collaboration and search capability for the majority of their daily activities.
Because of the diverse geographical locations of utility members, a common system was required to share documents and allow collaboration between members to form a basic management framework to organise WPH activities. An independently hosted infrastructure was preferred to discount any individual member being wholly responsible for the running and support of the system.
ClearPeople recommended a SharePoint Online solution on Office 365 to WPH, in order to meet their business requirements as it offered a competitive pricing model and as the infrastructure is supported and hosted in the Microsoft cloud, Office 365 was a compelling choice of environment to deploy the solution.
The deployed solution is easy to use and less than a day of training was required in order to cover out-of-the-box SharePoint and basic SharePoint concepts, along with a session on the WPH solution. WPH members are now equipped with a platform that allows them to remotely and securely access internal processes, collaborate and manage documents.
“The project has been a great success. It helped all member organisations to easily collaborate and share information for our procurement projects. And it’s secure! ClearPeople approached the project with dedication and has provided an excellent service. Our requirements were met with out-of-the-box SharePoint Online features, but ClearPeople did a great job in configuring the required workflows as well as developing custom web parts.”
