In order to be a “Digital First” organisation and help them to achieve ambitious plans for the future, CFT worked with ClearPeople, a Microsoft Gold Partner and Cloud expert, to detangle their hosting infrastructure and move to Azure.
The move to new shiny offices in Aldgate was communicated internally through their SharePoint intranet homepage and the introduction of Yammer has allowed increased involvement and collaboration with employees and people with cystic fibrosis, and increased visibility and engagement for remote workers.
The solution enabled the Trust to deploy a scalable and future-proof infrastructure quickly at minimum cost, providing a new way of working for its employees and volunteers. With many of these people living with cystic fibrosis themselves, they are unable to meet in person so the ease of working remotely on multiple devices with single-sign on access to documents and resources has massively improved productivity for the organisation.
Communication is happening internally through their SharePoint intranet and the introduction of Yammer has allowed increased involvement and collaboration with employees and people with cystic fibrosis, and increased visibility and engagement for remote workers.
“This was a huge project in a short timescale which has helped reduce budgets rather than add. Last year everyone was fixed to a desk without document management and little remote access. To say that this has increased productivity and efficiency for the Trust would be an understatement.”
“Our home-based colleagues are confronted with a lot less barriers now which is especially important for those living with cystic fibrosis. Cross infection puts people at risk, so while there can only be one person with the condition in the building at any one time, through improved remote working they now appear in meetings through the TV, and can have informal chats as if they were in the office.”
Cystic Fibrosis Trust was announced the winner of the Workplace Transformation Project of the Year at the 2015 UKIT Industry Awards run by BCS, The Chartered Institute of IT, and Computing.
Cystic Fibrosis Trust (CFT) fought off some tough competition from the likes of Network Rail and Landmarc Support Services to be recognised as the organisation with the most outstanding IT project that uses enterprise mobility and collaborative technologies to transform the workplace with device and location independent services.
