Back in November 2015, Microsoft announced their plans to offer commercial cloud services from the UK.

After some months of private preview where ClearPeople helped shape the service, we are now glad to let you know that from September 7, 2016, both Azure and Office 365 are also available from multiple data centres placed in UK. Dynamics CRM Online is expected to arrive to UK centres in the first half of 2017.

With this announcement, Microsoft extends their services to 30 regions around the world. Thanks to the new two UK regions, namely UK West and UK South, that are respectively located in Cardiff and London, Microsoft becomes the first global provider to deliver complete cloud services from UK data centres, and customers obtain the benefits of data residency and geo-redundant data replication within the country.

As Microsoft states, this new offering provides world-class reliability and performance, and also a simpler way to demonstrate regulatory and legal compliance for government departments, regulated industries and other businesses where UK residence of data is a key consideration.
