What makes the essential gadget? Well, after giving this some thought, we’ve established that there are many different answers out there based upon needs and desires. Ultimately all gadgets need to serve a purpose. Whether it’s functional in the sense of telling the time, tracking your fitness level or taking a picture or a statement piece to convey a perceived status or authority, all gadgets have to actually do something.

And gadgets will be viewed differently by different groups. Are you an early adopter? These are the people who are first in line to purchase the futuristic tech hitting the shelves, the aficionados who are at the leading edge of the next best thing. They’ve been aware of technology changes for some time and have been counting down to the release of new developments with anticipation.

Or perhaps you’re a gamer, meaning a bigger screen is a must and don’t forget the faster processor and better graphics!

Or perhaps for the photographers out there, the essential gadget would obviously be the camera. The ability to capture a moment without squinting your eyes and tilting your head is a must.

And of course, if you’re a loyalist, it doesn’t really matter what gadget your favourite technology brand brings out, you must have it!

With tech at its core the essential gadget has an obvious link to the Digital Workspace, right?

Take a peek at the similarities between this and other essential items on our Essential Communications Intranet page.
