Sharing the Load
Did you know that South Africa has one of the highest incidences of HIV/AIDS – 21,5% of the adult population, which in turn leaves over 1 million children orphaned across the country? We, at ClearPeople, believe in sharing the responsibility in attempt to minimise the effects that these figures have on the children, essentially left behind and have pledged to make monthly donations to two Aids Orphan Villages in South Africa.
SOS Children in South Africa
The SOS Children’s Village’s in South Africa is a private, charitable, social development organisation. It is politically and denominationally independent, and is an affiliated member of SOS-Kinderdorf International.
There are currently more than 950 children living permanently in the SOS Children's Villages around the country. SOS build families for orphaned and abandoned children. Eight to ten children are cared for in small family-type homes, the SOS families, and are raised like brothers and sisters. The head of the family is the SOS Mother, who provides the children with the affection and security they need for their sound development.

Where we care
With three of our full time staff members having grown up in South Africa, the seriousness and effect of this situation is very close to our hearts. It is very rewarding to know that we are playing a small part in helping SOS in their fight against abandoned children.
Mamelodi is situated in the country's north-east, about 30 kilometers east of Pretoria, the executive capital of South Africa.
The village consists of 16 family homes and five youth houses. An SOS Social Centre provides training in computer technology and dressmaking. In addition, a community outreach programme supports over 30 local child day-care centres with material and advisory services.

Mamelodi Village Play time - Mamelodi Village
Pietermaritzburg is the capital of KwaZulu-Natal Province in the east of South Africa and is located about 40 kilometers away from the coastal city of Durban.
This SOS Village consists of thirteen family houses to take in up to 130 children. The Village was developed in response to a call for help from a city paediatrician, who was concerned at the high number of orphans abandoned at government hospitals. The Village houses 152 children, as well as reaching nearly 500 children in the highly successful Family Strengthening Programme.
Our donations not only contribute to the building, maintaining and extending of these villages but also contributes funds required by the SOS members and volunteers as they play an important role in supporting the development and sustainability of their local communities as they invest in the futures of thousands of children in the community making sure they have the tools they need to become independent young adults.
